🚨 Hillsborough Co. Commissioner Ken Hagan on WDAE on 4/21/26:
The deal that gives the Rays over $1 billion of county funds — plus 130 acres of the HCC campus — "wouldn’t be felt by the public.”
He also called $75 million “a rounding error” and insisted "this isn’t a tax increase."
Let’s talk about what $1 billion could actually fund instead:
Fixing our crumbling roads and potholes
Addressing serious flooding in our neighborhoods
Improving public safety and emergency response
These are real, unfunded infrastructure needs that won’t magical
ly disappear if we divert CIT money to a billionaire’s stadium. We were promised the CIT would be used for roads, schools, and safety — not this.
Email Commissioner Hagan and the Board and tell them:
"Honor the 2024 CIT promise and don't tap our rainy day funds for yet another stadium!"
